Volleyball Game Preview: Newark Wildcats vs. Pickerington Central Tigers

Newark is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Newark Wildcats duke it out with Pickerington Central Tigers at 6:00 p.m. They will be strutting in after a win while Pickerington Central will be coming in after a defeat.

Newark barely beat Hayes the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Newark was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Hayes last Thursday. The Wildcats not only won last Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024.

One reason for the win was Newark's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-23, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Pickerington Central faced Hilliard Darby in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Pickerington Central lost 3-0 to Hilliard Darby. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-11.

Pickerington Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Newark, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Everything went Newark's way against Pickerington Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Newark made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Newark since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
