Baseball Game Preview: Central Cambria Red Devils vs. Chestnut Ridge Lions

Central Cambria and Chestnut Ridge are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will welcome the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chestnut Ridge took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Central Cambria, who comes in off a win.

Central Cambria took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bald Eagle Area, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils had just enough and edged out the Eagles 5-4 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Owen Harringer tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JD Brouse was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Blasko, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Chestnut Ridge fell victim to Central and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Dragons. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Dragons: they've now lost five in a row.

Central Cambria's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Chestnut Ridge, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Central Cambria beat Chestnut Ridge 10-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
