Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Gaither Cowboys
The Jefferson Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 13th straight loss. They were outmatched by Gaither at home and fell 63-28. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Jefferson has suffered since December 5, 2023.
Joslyn Thornton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gaither, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Thornton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolyn Emanuel, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Jefferson's loss was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Gaither, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-8.
