Softball Game Preview: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Peotone Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Wilmington will face off against Peotone. The Wildcats will take on the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wilmington will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Wilmington's victory against Peotone wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats never let the Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Monday.

The result came thanks to Taryn Gilbert's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wilmington's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Keeley Walsh, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Wilmington pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Peotone, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9.

Both Wilmington and Peotone just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Peotone struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.8 hits.
