Baseball Recap: Centennial Gets the Win

Centennial won the last time they faced Franklin and things went their way on Thursday too. Centennial walked away with an 8-5 win over Franklin. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Gabriel Shepler was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Ben Gant was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Centennial's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

The victory got Centennial back to even at 7-7. As for Franklin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against Father Ryan on the 28th. As for Franklin, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-13 defeat against Ensworth on the 29th.
