Softball Recap: Franklin Community Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Franklin Community won the last time they faced Perry Meridian and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Grizzly Cubs blew past the Falcons 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Grizzly Cubs, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Franklin Community let Aubrey Leugers and Adeline Blackwell run wild. Leugers went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Blackwell went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three doubles gave Leugers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madynn Grant, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The victory (which was Franklin Community's third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin Community beat the Falcons by a score of 14-1 on Wednesday.
