Softball Recap: Kennedy Catholic Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cardinal Spellman

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kennedy Catholic). They blew past the Cardinal Spellman Pilots 16-2 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gaels needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Nina Sanese-Cavone made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Sanese-Cavone was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Aine Curley was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ava Voyiatzis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Kennedy Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Spellman only managed five hits.

Kennedy Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Cardinal Spellman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Kennedy Catholic will take on Maria Regina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gaels are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cardinal Spellman, they will face off against Mary Louis Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
