Baseball Recap: Roseville Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Roseville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Nevada Union Miners 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 19th.

Dustin Holcomb looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Roseville is undefeated when Holcomb allows two or fewer hits, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Austin Chang was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Maddox Ostenik also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Roseville and bumps their season record up to 12-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Nevada Union, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Roseville will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Twelve Bridges at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Nevada Union, they will be taking part in a tournament against Truckee at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
