According to reports, rising 6-8 junior expected to transfer from Palmdale (Calif.) to Findlay Prep before committing to UNLV.

New University of Nevada-Las Vegas basketball coach Dave Rice received his first commitment for 2013 on Friday when rising junior Christian Wood chose the Runnin' Rebels, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

The 6-foot-8 Wood is rated among the nation's top players in his class even though he performed in just three games last year after breaking his left wrist early in the season.

The lanky 180-pounder is expected to transfer this fall from Knight (Palmdale, Calif.) to Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), a short drive from his future home on the campus of UNLV.

Wood is the third Golden State prep product to move on to Findlay Prep this off-season. Bay Area standouts Brandon Ashley, a 6-8 forward from Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland), and point guard Dominic Artis of Salesian (Richmond) are both expected to join the Pilots fo the 2011-12 season..

Ashley is rated No. 6 in in the latest update of MaxPreps.com's Class of 2012 Top 100 set to be released July 5.
