Basketball Recap: Cane Ridge Falls Despite Big Games from Jaiden Pugh and Avyion Mccleton

If Cane Ridge was riding high fresh off their 89-48 takedown of Hunters Lane last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cane Ridge Ravens lost to the Antioch Bears on the road by a 71-55 margin on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, with their most recent loss being a 61-54 defeat on February 4th.

Despite the loss, Cane Ridge had strong showings from Avyion McCleton, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 20 points and three steals, and Jaiden Pugh, who posted 19 points and five boards. That's the most points McCleton has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Clark, who scored six points and eight rebounds.

Cane Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Antioch, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.

Coming up, Cane Ridge will square off against Overton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Cane Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Antioch, they will take on Hillsboro at 8:30 p.m. on Monday. Hillsboro will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Antioch surely won't give up without a fight.
