Softball Recap: Sutter Has No Trouble Against Woodland

Sutter came out on top against Woodland on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Huskies blew past the Wolves 10-1. The Huskies not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 15-0).

Izabella Pacheco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Liliana Speakman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paytyn Schamanski, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sutter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Sutter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season.

Sutter will take on Wheatland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. Woodland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
