Basketball Game Preview: Metro Tech Knights vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos

The Metro Tech Knights will head out to take on the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Metro Tech has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while La Joya Community will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Metro Tech was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-34 to Alhambra.

Meanwhile, La Joya Community strolled past Independence with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 64-47.

La Joya Community has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Metro Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 1-23.

Metro Tech suffered a grim 60-40 defeat to La Joya Community in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Metro Tech, Makuach Makuei (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
