Basketball Recap: Northridge Beats Penn for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Northridge had won four straight games and Lily Scholl did her part to make it five on Saturday. The Northridge Raiders slipped by the Penn Kingsmen 54-53 thanks in part to Scholl, who went 12 of 17 on her way to 27 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game.

Penn lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jessa Troy, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 21 points. That's the most points Troy has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hummel, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks.

Northridge pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Penn, they moved to 11-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

After both having extra time off, Northridge and Tippecanoe Valley will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:45 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Northridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season. As for Penn, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-37 victory against Westfield on the 28th.
