Soccer Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes a Loss

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the West Johnston Wildcats, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against West Johnston this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in March.

Smithfield-Selma's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for West Johnston, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6-1 record this season.

Smithfield-Selma wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against C.B. Aycock on the 29th. As for West Johnston, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Southern Wayne on the 29th.
