Preview: School Without Walls Penguins vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
School Without Walls is 0-8 against Roosevelt since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The School Without Walls Penguins will head out on the road to face off against the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (School Without Walls is ranked 18th, while Roosevelt is ranked ninth).
Last Wednesday, School Without Walls wound up with the same score they had in their last game (58-48), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 69-65 victory over Banneker. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Roosevelt's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jawuan Carter, who scored 20 points, and Gabriel Hudgens, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Antonio Moorer, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
School Without Walls' defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Roosevelt, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
School Without Walls might still be hurting after the 73-50 defeat they got from Roosevelt when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point School Without Walls was down 38-18.
