Abraham Lincoln snuck past the Braves with a 84-79 victory on Tuesday. Given Abraham Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Braves are ranked 505th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abraham Lincoln's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Malachi Montgomery led the charge by scoring 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Smith, who scored 23 points.
Abraham Lincoln's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.3 points per game. As for John Bartram, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abraham Lincoln will take on the Speedboys at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. West Philadelphia will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for John Bartram, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Generals at 3:15 p.m. on January 31st. Constitution knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully the Braves likes a good challenge.
