It's playoff time, and Incarnate Word Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Brazos Christian Eagles 57-24 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Angels sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Incarnate Word Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Cory, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. What's more, Cory also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Kyle Owen was another key player, going 6-for-11 en route to 14 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Incarnate Word Academy's record is now 21-14. As for Brazos Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-16.
Looking ahead, Incarnate Word Academy will head out to face off against St. Francis Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 contests -- so hopefully Incarnate Word Academy likes a good challenge. Brazos Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
