Baseball Recap: Utah Military Academy - Hill Field Comes Up Short

Utah Military Academy - Hill Field extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 6-4. They came up short against the Intermountain Christian Lions, falling 17-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

Asher Allen was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Utah Military Academy - Hill Field: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braden Emmett, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Intermountain Christian, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Considering they have won 11 matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Intermountain Christian's side, Coy White made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Utah Military Academy - Hill Field will head out to face off against Maeser Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.3 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Intermountain Christian, they will face off against American Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
