Volleyball Recap: Elkhart Starts off Right with Win over Oakwood

Elkhart had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Oakwood Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Elks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Elkhart was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Layla Walding and Marisa Denney, who picked up eight kills apiece. Walding also shared the team's lead in assists with Mallari Pittman: they picked up 12 each. Walding was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Elkhart will take on Central Heights in a tournament on Thursday. As for Oakwood, they will welcome Kemp at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
