Basketball Recap: West Grand Takes a Loss

West Grand played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Plateau Valley Cowboys, falling 55-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost seven in a row.

West Grand got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Cooper Martinson and Sanjay Geffers, who each put up four points. Geffers also led the team in rebounds with five.

It was another big night for Jack Vig, who went 9 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals for Plateau Valley. Vig's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cash Salazar, who posted 11 points and three steals.

West Grand's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Plateau Valley, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

West Grand will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gilpin County at 6:30 p.m. West Grand is facing Gilpin County at the right time seeing as Gilpin County is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Plateau Valley has already played their next matchup (against Vail Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
