Baseball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Golden's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Golden couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Ponderosa Mustangs by a score of 10-8 on Saturday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Demons, who until this contest were averaging 2.08 runs allowed.

Golden saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Paulson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Paulson has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Gunnar Hetrick was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

With the defeat, Golden broke their 17-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-3. As for Ponderosa, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-9.

Golden does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ponderosa, they will challenge Palisade at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
