Basketball Game Preview: Hueytown Golden Gophers vs. Shades Valley Mounties + How To Watch

The Hueytown Golden Gophers will head out to face off against the Shades Valley Mounties at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Hueytown ended up a good deal behind Hewitt-Trussville and lost 52-34. While losing is never fun, the Golden Gophers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Huskies are ranked 23rd).

Hueytown's loss came about despite a quality game from Mike Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Dylan Moore also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Shades Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. The matchup between the Mounties and Starkville didn't end well, with the Mounties falling 63-46.

Hueytown's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Shades Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Things could have been worse for Hueytown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-32 loss to Shades Valley in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Golden Gophers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
