Football Recap: Taylor Comes Up Short + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Taylor can now relate to. They were dealt a 63-19 defeat at the hands of the Canyon Lake Hawks on Friday. The Ducks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Taylor lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Johnny Guzman, who threw for 323 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 104 yards on only 12 carries. Jeremiah Caldwell was in the mix as well, providing Taylor with two TDs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canyon Lake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Brown, who rushed for 123 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Wheeler, who threw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes.

Taylor now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Canyon Lake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Taylor does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon Lake, they will square off against Calallen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Wheeler and Connor Klostermann.
