Basketball Recap: Northridge Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Northridge had won three straight road games and Sophia Carbajal did her part to make it four on Saturday. The Northridge Grizzlies came out on top against the Berthoud Spartans by a score of 55-43 with plenty of help from Carbajal, who dropped a double-double with 35 points and 23 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Northridge's points.

Despite the loss, Berthoud still got an impressive performance from Avery Pfohl, who posted 17 points and eight boards. Pfohl's big performance that afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Padilla, who had eight points.

Northridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points over those games. Berthoud has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Northridge and Berthoud are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Northridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Canon City at 5:00 p.m. on March 1st. Canon City will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Northridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Berthoud, they will be playing at home against Timnath at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
