While Oxford's victory against West Elk wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats skirted past the Patriots 8-6. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots on Thursday, too.

Connor Commerford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tucker Ruyle was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Pearson Rush, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Oxford's record is now 11-5. As for West Elk, they dropped their record down to 3-10-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Oxford beat the Patriots by a score of 2-1 later that day.
