Softball Recap: Fike Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hunt

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fike). They never let the Hunt Warriors get on the board and left with a 24-0 win on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Demons have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 29, 2021.

Gracie Vincent made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vincent was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Sharp, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Na'Tya Elliott, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Fike always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Fike and bumps their season record up to 3-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Hunt, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Fike will face off against American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Demons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Hunt, they are taking a road trip to square off against Southern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Firebirds will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
