Baseball Recap: South Plainfield Comes Up Short

The South Plainfield Tigers came up short against the Spotswood Chargers on Saturday and fell 8-4.

South Plainfield got a good showing from Joe Stanzione, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Dan Kapsch was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Aiden McCarthy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

South Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Spotswood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plainfield will venture away from home to take on St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spotswood, they will head out to challenge Carteret at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
