Basketball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. South Spartans

The North Salinas Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the South Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

North Salinas gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Salinas with a sharp 57-37 win. The game was close at halftime, but the Vikings turned on the heat in the second half with 35 points.

North Salinas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andre Lizaola, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Lizaola a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Guevara, who went 6-for-10 en route to 12 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, South strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 69-41 victory over Independence. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.
