Basketball Game Preview: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers

The Marvin Ridge Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marvin Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Charlotte Country Day School likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Marvin Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Covenant Day, taking the game 63-55.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marvin Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Rivlin, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Rivlin a new career-high. Henry Smith was another key player, shooting 42% from the field on his way to 18 points and six boards.

Marvin Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Country Day School came up short against Butler on Saturday and fell 54-44.

Marvin Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
