Basketball Game Preview: Watauga Pioneers vs. Hibriten Panthers

The Watauga Pioneers will square off against the Hibriten Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Hibriten likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Watauga didn't have too much trouble with Alexander Central as they won 63-48.

Kate Sears continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists. Her evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chloe Wilson, who went 7 of 9 en route to 14 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Watauga was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alexander Central only racked up nine assists.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hibriten, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Ashe County by a score of 56-47 on Tuesday.

Watauga has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Hibriten, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Watauga strolled past Hibriten in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 59-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Watauga since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
