Basketball Game Preview: Woodside Wildcats vs. Half Moon Bay Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Woodside Wildcats face off against the Half Moon Bay Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-37, which was the final score in Woodside's tilt against Menlo-Atherton on Wednesday. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Half Moon Bay has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 70-56 to Carlmont. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Scots are ranked 354th).

Half Moon Bay's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for Woodside, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Woodside came up short against Half Moon Bay in their previous matchup back in May of 2021, falling 50-43. Can Woodside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
