Softball Recap: Jeffersonville Sets Scoring Season-High Against New Albany

Jeffersonville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against New Albany on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 15-12 to the Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 12- run performance marked the Red Devils' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Abigail Perissi and Kenzie Myers stepped up to the plate in a big way. Perissi went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Myers went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That triple marked the first that Perissi has hit this season. Ashlyn McClure was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Jeffersonville dropped their record down to 1-14 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for New Albany, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jeffersonville will square off against Columbus East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Olympians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.65 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for New Albany, they will take on Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.68 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
