Rosamond hasn't had much luck against Bishop Union recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Roadrunners will face off against the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. Rosamond has given up an average of 37 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-21, which was the final score in Rosamond's tilt against Brentwood School on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Roadrunners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 927th, while the Eagles are ranked 333rd).
Meanwhile, Bishop Union got themselves on the board against Central last Friday, but Central never followed suit. They blew past the Grizzlies, posting a 54-0 win. The Broncos' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bishop Union's win came from a few key players Rosamond will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emory Dondero, who threw for 156 yards and three TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing, and also punched in one rushing score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Carlos Sualez was Dondero's top target, picking up 29 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Bishop Union didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Central to a completion percentage of just 31.2%. The team can thank Levi Derr for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bishop Union wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 100%.
Bishop Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Miguel Elizarraraz and Hunter Dailey. Dailey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Union and bumps their season record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Rosamond, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Rosamond might still be hurting after the 27-6 loss they got from Bishop Union in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Roadrunners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
