Basketball Recap: The Gregory School Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Lauren Horowitz and Zena Smith + How To Watch

The Gregory School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 27-19 to the San Simon Longhorns. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 28-24 to the Longhorns when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Zena Smith and Lauren Horowitz certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Smith posted 12 points along with seven boards and seven steals, while Horowitz had five points in addition to nine rebounds and six steals. Horowitz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Sofia Arias-White also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

San Simon found their leader in sophomore Bryleigh Sloan, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Evelyn Lopez was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

The Gregory School's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for San Simon, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

The Gregory School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 33-30 victory against Tombstone on the 22nd. As for San Simon, they have also already played their next game, a 37-34 win against Patagonia on the 22nd.
