Basketball Recap: Conner Peters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Creighton Prep over Lincoln Southwest

Creighton Prep has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 79-77 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks. The Junior Jays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Silver Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Creighton Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Peters, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points gave Peters a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Jungers, who posted 17 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln Southwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makkiah Sanders, who went 9 for 13 en route to 21 points and five assists. Sanders has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last three times he's played. Uzziah Sanders was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Creighton Prep's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Lincoln Southwest, their record now sits at 11-7.

Creighton Prep will challenge Lincoln Southeast at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Creighton Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season. As for Lincoln Southwest, they will face off against Millard West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln Southwest's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.
