Soccer Game Preview: West Mesa vs. Valley

The West Mesa Mustangs will face off against the Valley Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Mesa is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

West Mesa came up short against Los Lunas on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no goals scored by either team from that point forward.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Del Norte get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. Considering Valley have won four contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those eight matchups. As for West Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

West Mesa suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Valley when the teams last played two weeks ago. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 5-0.
