Volleyball Recap: Barnesville Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After losing to River the last time they met, Barnesville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Shamrocks put the hurt on the Pilots with a sharp 3-0 victory on Wednesday.

While Barnesville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13, 25-19.

Leading Barnesville to victory were Aubrey Johnson and Makenna Marley. Johnson had 16 digs and four assists, while Marley had ten digs. Those ten digs gave Marley a new career-high. Caydence Stephen also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Barnesville's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Barnesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Bellaire on the 8th. As for River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Tyler on the 4th.
