Gowanda hadn't done well against Olean recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Huskies. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Huskies on their field since April 20, 2016.
Hayleigh Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

Gowanda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olean only posted an OBP of .314.
Gowanda has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Coming up, Gowanda will head out to take on Salamanca at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Olean, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Randolph at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
