Softball Recap: Mashpee Falcons vs. Southeastern RVT Hawks
Mashpee extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-14. They lost 25-4 to the Southeastern RVT Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-5 back in April.
As for Southeastern RVT, the win snapped their losing streak at ten games and leaves them with a 5-12 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Southeastern RVT's part, Isabelle Troncoso made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Troncoso has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (three).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camrynn Precourt, who went 3-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Cienna Maldonado also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Mashpee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southeastern RVT, they will host Cardinal Spellman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
