Baseball Game Preview: Stone Ridge Christian Knights vs. Waterford Wildcats

For the second straight game, Stone Ridge Christian will face off against Waterford. The Knights will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stone Ridge Christian is looking for their season's first win.

On Tuesday, Stone Ridge Christian came up short against Waterford and fell 12-7. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly five runs.

For Waterford's part, Bryan Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Martinez has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances.

In other batting news, Waterford let Salvador Figueroa and Xaiver Mata run wild. Figueroa scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances, while Mata scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Figueroa a new career-high.

The victory made it two in a row for Waterford and bumps their season record up to 7-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Stone Ridge Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
