Basketball Game Preview: Clinton Cardinals vs. Sherwood Marksmen

After both having extra time off, the Clinton Cardinals and the Sherwood Marksmen will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Clinton is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest loss since February 6th last Saturday. They lost 65-41 to Skyline. The match marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

While Sherwood didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-43 win over Archie two weeks ago. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marksmen.

Sherwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Clinton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Clinton couldn't quite finish off Sherwood when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 56-54. Can Clinton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
