Baseball Recap: Whitley County Beats Clay County for Their Fourth Straight Win

Whitley County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Clay County Tigers a 1-0 shutout. This was payback for the Colonels, who suffered a 5-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Kip Allen's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, D Parker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Whitley County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clay County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

As of now, neither Whitley County nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
