Football Recap: Unicoi County Wins Going Away Against Grainger + How To Watch

Unicoi County won against Pigeon Forge two weeks ago with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Everything went the Blue Devils' way against the Grainger Grizzlies as they made off with a 42-20 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Blaze Rice was his usual excellent self, rushing for 241 yards and four TDs while picking up 15.1 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Kolby Jones was another key player, throwing for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Unicoi County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Unicoi County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Unicoi County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Grainger, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Unicoi County will head out to square off against Claiborne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Grainger, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Greeneville on the 24th.
