Recap: Clinton Gaels vs. Uxbridge Spartans
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Clinton Gaels, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 35-15 loss at the hands of Uxbridge on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Clinton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Uxbridge is ranked 25th).
Clinton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Matt Phillips, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and Ethan Frisch who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Clinton's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Uxbridge's QB was sacked five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Connor Cox and Frisch who racked up four sacks between them.
Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Uxbridge, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton is on the road again on Thursday and play against Nashoba Regional at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Nashoba Regional is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Uxbridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Northbridge at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Northbridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
