Basketball Recap: North Mesquite Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

North Mesquite won the last time they faced Adams, and Syniyah Grigsby did her part to make sure it happened again. The North Mesquite Stallions came out on top against the Adams Cougars by a score of 58-45 on Tuesday thanks in part to Grigsby, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Taniya Epps, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

Adams lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Artiss Harris, who posted 17 points. That was a full 37.8% of Adams' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Linley Davis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

North Mesquite is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Adams, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-15.

North Mesquite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-47 defeat against West Mesquite on the 31st. Adams has also already played their next match, a 62-6 win against Samuell on the 31st.
