Basketball Recap: Pillager Comes Up Short

Pillager was the 76-63 winner over Marshall when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Huskies took an 81-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilltoppers on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 345th).

This is the second loss in a row for Pillager and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Marshall, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-16.

Looking ahead, Pillager will welcome Mora at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskies will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games. As for Marshall, they will venture away from home to square off against Pierz at 11:45 a.m. on Friday.
