Dakota takes loss despite strong efforts from Bella Keyes and Peyton Woodsmall

Recap: Dakota Indians vs. Orangeville Broncos

The Dakota Indians suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Orangeville, falling 73-33. Dakota has not had much luck with Orangeville recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Dakota's loss came despite strong showings from Peyton Woodsmall and Bella Keyes. Woodsmall scored nine points along with seven rebounds, while Keyes scored six points along with six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orangeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Laney Cahoon, who scored 28 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cahoon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadalee Doyle, who scored 23 points along with three steals.

Dakota's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13. As for Orangeville, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dakota will take on Lena-Winslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lena-Winslow presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dakota in Illinois (Lena-Winslow is ranked 183rd, while Dakota is ranked 458th). As for Orangeville, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Aquin Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Aquin Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
