Softball Recap: New Milford Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mercy

New Milford extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Mercy. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 5-4. That's the first time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-4 victory on Wednesday.

Lydia Rocky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lilly Fortier, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cienna McNamara, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

New Milford has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Mercy, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: New Milford beat the Tigers by a score of 5-4 later that day.
