It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southern had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Mountain Ridge Miners 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Miners back in April, they had to take a 4-0 loss.

Southern saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew McCartney, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Southern's victory bumped their record up to 9-11-1. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Coming up, Southern will square off against Northern Garrett on Saturday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests. Mountain Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
