Marlin Jones Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Starting off the list is Huntsville's Marlin Jones, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Jones rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns. He's now once again averaging 100+ rushing yards (109.5) per game. His longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards.

Jones is probably looking forward to his next game, a home matchup against Albertville on Thursday. When Jones last faced the Aggies back in October of 2023, he rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

A Season-Best Effort from Jabari Davis Leads Sparkman over Bob Jones

Sparkman came up short on Friday despite Jabari Davis delivering his best game to date. Davis rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in September of 2023. He has become a key player for Sparkman: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

The loss snapped Sparkman's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-4 record. Davis and Sparkman will look to defend their home field on Friday against James Clemens at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Bob Jones got the W thanks in part to Malachi Foster playing the best football he has all season. For the year, Foster has caught 5 touchdowns while averaging 96.7 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 34.57 receiving yards per game.

Jl Davis Delivers Electric Effort Vs Huntsville

Austin picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Jl Davis. Nobody could stop Davis as he threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes.

For the year, Davis has thrown 12 touchdowns while averaging 191.5 passing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had five passing touchdowns.

Matthews Came Up Big in Sparkman's 56-37 Loss

The second Sparkman player making an appearance here is Jamarion Matthews, and for good reason. He picked up 2.5 sacks and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
